Marriage itself is not an indicator of anything. The logic is that even though they failed, even though many of such people are wilful and stubborn in their ways and go into situations with entitlement and unrealistic expectations...they at least got in the water and tried. Nobody respects people that won't even try to learn.

Using extreme examples of marriage failures won't negate that fact. There are killers who were in loving relationships. That has nothing to do with anything.
