how about this; there are 4 kinds of people. straight men/women, and gay men/women. anything else is mental illness
you can't use sexual attraction to classify sex. bruce jenner is trans, but has only been with bio women. that would make him a straight man biologically but a lesbian 'woman' socially.
shyt is too confusing for the average person to think about. and dems don't make it any better.
the lgbt community's first problem was adding the 't' to lgbt. if lgb signifies sexual attractions, them adding the "t' shoots them in the foot because people now associate the t's with a sexual attraction instead of a social category under gender. but instead of the lgb community dropping the t's, people are now having to circle back and now explain you can be 't' and be straight, gay and everything in between, and that just adds more confusion.
the problem is shyt wasn't well thought out. even the lgbt community is confused and don't have all the right language.
but in their confusion, and in their urgency to take advantage of the gains they made under the obama administration, t's put pressure on lgbt advocacy groups, and lgbt advocacy groups started pressuring dems to promote certain talking points without the right contextual language, which makes dems spout off doubling the confusion. it's confusion upon confusion.
like I said, this is a clusterfukk and they need to leave this alone.
OK, so if you can’t change your sex, then what are we changing? Marc himself says sex is real. Why is he going beyond that to then say “trans women are women?”
i don't want this to look like i'm advocating for this because I'm not. i'm just telling my logic as i see it with this issue.
- male = biological category that can't be changed.
- boy, man = social construct that can be added to/subtracted from whenever society seems.
- female = biological category that can't be changed.
- girl woman = social construct that can be added to/subtracted from whenever society deems.
so if marc is saying sex can be changed, he's saying "socially" it can be changed (or expanded) because society can add to or take away from whatever societal definitions as it deems necessary.
however, if he's saying biological sex can be changed, that's a lie, and he and dems need to rightfully be called out on it. it would be better for them to say that 'external' sexual organs can be modified but that does not change inherent biological sex. but again, this is too much for the average person just to "get" off rip so they need to pause.
i look at it similar to race. this is why someone like ann dibble jordan, who is phenotypically white, is socially categorized as black via the one drop rule.
also why irish, Italians and latinos*, although being (*latinos can be) phenotypically white, were at one point, not deemed such until society expanded the social definition of whiteness at the turn of the 20th century.
that's how I look at it. societal definitions can expand or subtract. biology absolutely cannot.
now asking if society can or should "morally" do this at will is another question altogether.
