He's just like every other Chip Kelly-Oregon QB though......all zone reads and gimmick offense

IDK HHR. He seems to have pocket awareness unlike most past Duck QB's. Chip has never had a QB like him going all the way back to UNH. We will see..

Still, I think dude is the best QB in the Nation. Tho, I think the QB class this year is suspect as fukk..

klein plays 4 quarters though

today was the first game all year mariota played all 4 quarters

for a redshirt freshman mariota is on a different level, hes what bum ass driskel should be

klein, miller, johnny football, mariota best dual threat qbs hands down

scary the numbers johnny football and mariota will put up in 2 years from now

klein carrying bums tho (well not that harshly).

mariota got alot of talent around him.

*throws screen to thomas that goes 50 yards*

*throws to wide open huff off pa pass after barner is gashing defenses with the run*

not trying to discredit youngin but klien and johnny skinhead are really carrying their teams

Not from what I watched today.

It was one read...and MAYBE a 2nd if the line gave him enough time, but he'd usually hesitate and check the rush before getting to that second read.

I mean, I was watching 3/4 different games at once tonight...but nothing I saw made me believe he'll be any better of an NFL QB than Dennis Dixon

i agree not hating klein, i think klein deserves the heisman, i was just saying cant really compare mariota to other dudes because hes just been playing first halves, why his numbers arent so high.

Time will only tell how good he really is. Oregon runs a gimmick offense that doesn't translate into the NFL. Look at the QB's under Chip Kelly: Dennis Dixon, Jeremiah Masoli, Darron Thomas. All beasted in Chip's system, but aren't good QB's outside of it.

With that said how are the two biggest Oregon fans on this board not from even close to Oregon?

Eh, Oregon does not run a gimmick O. The Pats are running Oregon's O when they're in the no huddle, which is a one word O. And to run that Oregon O you need a run game.

The Ducks are not using flee flickers or wild cat plays, which I think are gimmicks.

But like you say @beejus, not many QB's have succeed outside chip's O. but I think mariota will. Dude has the size, the Mechanics and the smarts. Like I have said, he is the best QB Chip has ever had...

You must have an entirely different definition of gimmick offense than anyone else.

And the Pats are clearly not running Oregon's offense.

The ducks run a one word O. The Pats run a one word O when they go no Huddle. You think it is coincidence the Pats drafted two RB's in rounds 2 and 3 two years ago. And that the Pats are running the Ball the most they have since they had corey dillion. And do really think the Pats drafted Ridley and Vareen only to run the "Ray Perkins" O(the O the Pats ran from 2001 till 06).... :comeon:

Beli has worked with Chip, like he worked with Myer and his spread(starting in 2004, implemented in 07).

New England Patriots using complex no-huddle offense - NFL.com

Yes the Pats are running Chips O when they're in the no huddle. This is not really up for debate, it is pretty obvious. And looking back on the draft choices of the Pats on the O side of the ball, it leads right back to Chips O...

It's a gimmick offense and it works well in college football. Until they go up against the SEC where their speed is matched and they are out muscled. If you don't believe me just look at the god LaMichael James. He put up huge numbers in that offense, but can't sniff the field in the NFL. Look at Darron Thomas. After back to back seasons of throwing 30 & 33 touchdowns in Chip's system he went undrafted and now isn't in the NFL. Jeremiah Johnson and his 1200 rushing yards sound familiar?

Just because Tom and Bill use the offense on occasion doesn't mean they don't recognize it for what it is.

:aicmon:

He's been on the niners squad who is super RB deep and he got hurt. It's his rookie year, don't act like he's Kijana fukking Carter or something.

and honestly chip was the one that fukked off Oregon's chances at a title. That team with Darron Thomas could've KO'd Auburn but between Chip and Darron they gave it back. Both of them stayed doing dumb shyt in the championship game.

Oregon and K State are the two best teams in the country, but k state's QB got hurt so who fukkin knows what'll happen from here

On topic.

No, he's not. He's allowed to be comfortable because the offense is based on Kenjon being a god damned beast and the team getting a HUGE lead. Geno is still tops. Barkley is cool when he has time. Klein can't throw for shyt and Landry is the same he was last year, which isn't bad, but also ain't good. Also, Tahj Boyd is sneak good.

:ld: Ya, you mos def on point about Barner. Which leads back to Chips O. Which is run heavy, which gives the QB time, and opens up passing lanes. Great points #calh45 ...
