Cmon we've all heard worse on the court growing up. Being called a piece of crap to me is borderline laughable i would've probably laughed in his shoes not go to confront a fan. I stand by my point i wouldn't say sorry for that. That's no big deal in my opinion

Ya and if you grew up playing sports we've all seen somebody get mad from something a fan/other player/parent said and overreact. I'm sure he was pissed off at the guy calling him a piece of crap and got mad and pushed the dude, why a 50 page thread because of that?

because our general reaction was dude must've said something racial to get him to react the way he did. Most of us here coudln't fathon pushing someone because they called us a piece of crap. That just didn't make sense.

I've never seen so much participation from our fellow white posters in a "racially sensitive" thread. @NYC Rebel was right about some of yall picking and choosing which threads you want to enter and discuss race. This one had a black kid displaying a violent act in public so I'm not shocked to see so many in here beating your chest. I hope to see the same level of participation and enthusiasm from yall (and the kewns) when the next thread gets made about another trayvon/riley cooper/pohl/etc incident.....we'll see tho.

That's not the point. In the age of PC and "words hurt" and you can't just dismiss his words like that or the age difference. If a 40 year old person drove up to a local HS or college and stood in the parking lot calling students pieces of crap people would say " What the fukk is wrong with him? Why would he do that? That's not right. Those are kids. " and the police would be called. But since this kid just happens to be an athlete he doesn't get he privilege of the "words hurt" or "he's a kid" and is actually expected to ignore words (that you and others have decided are benign) and behave in a more mature fashion than someone more than twice, probably close to 3 times his age. At some point we have to stop allowing bitterness and envy to make us forget that athletes are indeed people and in Smart's case, a kid.

Re read what you are typing though. You can't fathom pushing somebody or even getting upset apparently if somebody called you a piece of feces, that's cool, but MOST people would at least be like huh?a good portion would shove a dude, and small portion of people would punch him in the face. I get the angle of he must have said something worse but the reality is it was a small shove so he didn't really overreact that big and what the dude said is on tape.

I was watching the local news last night (Fox 32 for the Chicago peeps), and they had a rant and rave segment on whether Smart should've gotten suspended. There were two older white guys debating it. Both said if the old white man said the n-word, not only should Smart not be suspended, but he should've punched that dude's teeth out.
