Last night and this season has been a disaster but it’s only year 1. He has all the time to flip the roster & change the culture. That team is soft & undisciplined

No matter how much he flips the roster, he's still going to be terrible at player development and terrible at in-game coaching.

Until Cristobal become a recruit-only coach and passes ALL his other responsibilities to better minds, y'all are going to underperform.

Came across an interesting stat.

Oregon has scored 40+ 8 straight game now, under Mario they did it 12 times in 4 years. He had an elite NFL QB for 2 of those years.

Idk Mario might not ge as good as I thought

We been telling y'all this for years. :wow:

He's a recruiter. That's ALL he is.

These boys get worse every game. I don't
Tough as this is…as terrible as this season has played out, I’m STILL rolling with my guys.

I have (blind) faith this will be rectified. It’s still Go Canes, eff the rest
Yeah it will get worst before it gets better. I'll admit that I initially thought some of the coaches would come in and magically make some of our average players at least decent. When everyone started transferring in/out and the staff were saying that the current guys aren't at a competitive level yet, mind you they said this in the Spring AND Fall, I slowly realized that it's a long rebuild. Maybe 5 players were showing heart out there last night and most were freshmen smh.

I don't understand why Miami doesn't have better receivers.

Think about the history here. Michael Irvin, Santana Moss, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne...

The last few years I gotta tune in to watch Braxton Berrios play? And his equally worthless twin Xavier Restrepo?
What happened to the stars at the skill positions? Where's the new Jeremy Shockey? The new Clinton Portis or Willis McGahee?

:why:

Donna Shulala and board of trustees intentionally killed the football program. They wanted to do everything possible to rid the school of the "Thug U" imagine and the damage has been done. So much has changed in 20 years in college football the glory days are over. Kids in South Florida not dying to go to UM anymore
How long are y’all gonna continue with this narrative?

He can def bring in the people and in a less parity ACC, he should do really well for some years.. he just a guaranteed 2-3 loss coach at his best with major talent.

Im not gonna pile on Mario, things worked out for the best with us. If Miami fans can just live with his " a win is a win" mentalilty during his tenure there, then so be it. You may a have few games you gonna look like world beaters and then have days like we had with Utah twice last year. That, how we go in and beat Ohio St but get our heads blown by a lesser proven pedigree.

But, he will bring in some pieces. 2023 he gotta turn it around majorly with that schedule they have. 2023 looks really easy.

2024 schedule with at Florida on the slate, Notre Dame, who gonna be stacked too... Clemson , FSU who trending up.. he may be looking at another year like this one..

This is an issue I have.

It's probable that Miami is no longer one of the elite programs in the country -- or at least it would be fair to say that they are not in that tier with Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, etc...

So on the one hand, perhaps it makes sense to just focus on improving to the point where they can contend for an ACC title and get lucky against Clemson. And hope that it's a building block toward something greater.

On the other hand, I can't help but feel that you need to shoot for the moon. Settling for an ACC title in the next 3-4 years is selling yourself short if you're Miami.

Everyone talks about Cristobal's ability to recruit but every time I look at these recruitment rankings, all Miami seems to do is get mid-level talent (even in the pre-Cristobal years). They lead the country in 3-star recruits, it seems. And I suppose that might be okay if you had a creative and elite coaching staff. But it doesn't seem like Miami has had that in a long time.

You mention 2023 and 2024, but is Miami hoping to have a great season or build a great program?
You know what I mean? Because if you're building a great program you wouldn't give a damn about what the schedule looks like.
