How does this stack up compared to 64, double dash and wii?

I heard battle mode is awful and that was where 50% of my kart time has gone into with all of them except wii which also had a bad battle mode. I'll let it slight if the racing is solid though.

The reason I ask is because I'm getting a wii u next week for smash and need to choose between the Mario kart 8 bundle and the super Mario 3d world one.

The battle mode definitely took a step back. It's still enjoyable though, but trust me when I tell you that it's the best Mario kart . As for 3d world it's also fun as fukk I'd get both. Or Mario kart first.

yeah the difference is the battle mode now takes place in racing form, so instead of the battle arenas, you pretty much just go around tracks and shoot shyt at each other and try to knock off their balloons...it was really the only drawback to this game cause the traditional battle mode with online would be epic AF....but like its been said, this is the best Mario Kart to date. And eventually you will probably end up with both Mario Kart and SM3DW.

I'm downloading it now as well and will try to check out the new tracks before work. Nintendo killing us right now with the exclusives because I am still hooked up Hyrule Warriors and have yet to play Bayonetta 2. Plus I didn't even know Smash Brothers drops next week.
