I didn't watch the whole video but I watched up to the point where he talks about the issues with being in 1st place. I have won a bunch of online knockout tour races and it has always been by avoiding 1st place until the next to last or last lap. So many times I've been cruising along in 1st then get hit with a shell then end up not making the cut. I'd have atleast 10 more wins if they didn't completely punish you for being so far ahead.

Boost mushrooms, horn, and the feather can beat blue shells, and if you have shells in the lead, you gotta be proactive with looking back and either deflecting oncoming shells or just smacking the shyt out of 2nd place because you have a clear shot

Yeah of course there are the FEW times you can actually do those but chances are when you try to hold an item a ghost takes it or you get hit with a lightning bolt and lose it I try to not even hold them for more than a few seconds

They're 100% keeping them as DLC. This game will probably have dozens of new tracks over the next few years.

Looking at people play this on YouTube most just sit in almost last place until they get an overpowered item combo like a star and a golden mushroom then on the last lap they use that to cut into first shortly before the finish line.

I mean it’s been like this for every Mario kart game for me at least. Play it when comes out. Play for a bit. Unlock everything.

Don’t really play it again unless family comes over. Or if I only got a 1 hr play session to play tops in a day.

Referring more to how the game playsand the game design. Like the tracks being made for 24 racers, a lot of straightaways, a lot of in between driving

How does the point system work in knockout tour? I’m finishing top 4 most of the time only gain like 60 points

If you don’t have friends to play with you’ll definitely lose interest quick. Knockout mode with friends has been pure fukkery. Especially now that you can do online split screen we brought in the ladies.

I am feeling it. I would call it my GOTY so far (albeit, it's been a weak first half). This game thrives online. I'm enjoying 3-staring every Grand Prix and knockout tour on Mirror Mode (even though it's fukking tough), but that is not the main dish of this title.

Pros:

1. The attention to detail and sheer amount of things to do is pretty staggering. Knockout Tour is a breath of fresh air.

2. The tracks are the best lineup of tracks in a Mario Kart bar none (excluding MK8 Deluxe's DLC..it's hard to beat 96 tracks).

3. The soundtrack is just peerless.

The game's two big issues:

1. No way to race classic 3-lap tracks. You can only select random in Vs, and Nintendo even nerfed that by putting the connected tracks in the random pool now. I think Nintendo's the GOAT, but this is what infuriates me more than anything with them: You have to play their games the way they insist you should. They really need to include this in a future update, it's really aggravating.

2. We need a jukebox/soundtrack selection option. I need that Yoshi Galaxy track bumping more often.

They've been doing that since 8 deluxe, what they need to do is make the ? Items hella random instead of giving them the Bullet Bill, Large/Red/Golden Mushrooms.
