Metal Gear and Zelda are among the only franchises that are really seeing Mario, IMO.

2D Sonic is piff ( ), but I could never get into the 3D games like that. For every dope mission that let you play as Sonic, you had to slog through two or three other boring missions playing as all these other lame-o characters nobody likes. Even when those other missions let you be one of the popular characters, the game wouldn't have you going fast, running loops, or doing anything that makes Sonic games lit.

To be fair to Sonic though, Sonic's cartoons/comics >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mario's.

After I played THE GOAT Sonic 2 then Sonic CD THEN Sonic 3 and Knuckles
....2D Mario felt

3D Mario is way better tho....3D Sonic games are either trash or barely average

With 3D, Mario has been more consistent but they aren't must plays to me. 2D, I'll rather play Sonic by a long shot
