Anybody with sense knows that

Look at Rg3, Cam, Kaep

And now the running qb phase of the NFL is dying.

Teams will be scared to take one in the draft, good chance he falls.

For the record... I'm not that down on Mariotta as I'd been on other spread QBs coming out of college. He has some elite physical skills, but like of here have said, he has to sit to maximize his potential.

So if he has to sit to be good, there's no way he should be going number #1 like some think. Both Conner Cook and Jamis Winston are more pro ready, and more deserving of being top 10 picks

How the fukk is Oregons O a gimmick? Because they spread out nh and make the defense cover the width of the entire field? That's a gimmick? Is Phillys offense a gimmick? Or is it just a gimmick because it's not "pro style" and that's the way yall are used to football being played.
You mean the same Philly team that rely on two non-mobile pocket QBs in Sanchez and Foles??

Think before you post... QB is all about what you can do from the pocket.

Period... End of story. Let's be done with this notion that dudes can have a run first mentality and go anywhere in this league. The ball travels three times faster than the fastest QBs feet.

Are really going to continue to argument???

Read option QBs fail because of the emphasis placed on first read and never going through progressions. The first read is there for QBs in college like 80% of the time. In the pros, like 20%. So, 4/5 times, the first read isn't there and there is the natural inclination to run. They don't go through progressions. Russell Wilson runs, but he's play pro style offenses in college. These other QBs have not and it shows once they show up in the pros.

lmao.. man stfu

Read option is probably the most detailed progression reading a QB can do. ol smart dumb ass nygga

Where they fail, is most dont actually have a playbook in college and dont get coached up like RG3. Just as many pocket passers fail in the league. Just STFU

If y'all nyggas cant see that Mariotta is NFL material, then you dont know football

Not saying he's a star, nobody knows that until he takes the NFL field. But he's light years ahead mentally then the avg read option QB

Can't wait to the draft season when emthe 'experts' will talk about everything about this guy that doesn't have to do with actually being a great QB, only for the coli to fall for it yet again by the draft rolls around.

"Oh he he just ran a 4.39 40"

"Oh he displayed great accuracy in college"

"Oh he won the Heisman"

"Oh he beat Winston head to head"

"Oh he's so very young"

"Oh look at that cannon on 'em"

that shyt aint happening

as for mariota:

i dont think he's not shyt...he's a decent qb...but he aint as nfl ready as they trying to make him seem...the best fit for him of course would be philly...if he doesnt land there, the best thing for him would be to backup someone so he can learn a more pro style system....if he's taken and asked to be the man from day 1 on any team but philly, that's setting him up for failure....

with that said, even though i think winston should be the first qb taken and is the most nfl ready, i think mariota will go before famous because of winston's image/off the field shyt...he'll probably be the 1st qb taken....

The fact Mariota runs is irrelevant. He just isn't a great pocket passer. Players can be both.

He's legit, just has to be put in a system that caters to his skill set. He's not going to beat you just dropping back and passing the ball 30 times a game.

But he's similar to Russ in that he has exceptional pocket presence and is obviously athletic enough to escape rushers when needed. I don't know if he'll be a star, but I think the bust potential with him is fairly low.

Lets be real, what truly separates Mariotta from RGIII or Kaep??

Hes just the next gimmick one hit wonder

"bu bu bu but he just needs the right system to maximize his talents"

What QB doesnt need that?

I never said he was a star.. I just said he could play in the NFL. He's smart... waaaay smarter than RG or Kaep..

I think he's gonna chill on the running next level.. he has good foot mechanics.
