Madden is exactly right about Ambrose's character, that shyt ain't entertaining. If you got a character that's supposed to be crazy, make him seem like he's really off, fukked up in the head. Dangerous. Ambrose's brand of crazy is PG-crazy and that shyt just don't work unless the fans are all six years old.

I have always seen the New Day act as an entertaining troll act, but I do think it's time to change it up or at least fine-tune it.

Time to give them a bit of an edge. More serious, more vicious, and new ring attire. They can still be sarcastic, but the pure trolling has been too over-the-top for too long now. It's time to launch them to the next level instead of letting them get stale and that means some fine-tuning of their act.

Ambrose's punches while bad are not the worst, that honour goes to Charlotte of who Madden, Keller and Meltzer are in the thinktank for. He does have some good points about Ambrose though.

I don't agree with his points on New Day.

His point on Ambrose you could debate.

He's totally up his own ass on New Day though. That "Somebody Call My Mama" dance number a few years back was more of a minstrel show. DX in blackface was a minstrel show. Cryme Tyme and Rapper Cena are closer to a minstrel show than 3 black dudes just acting goofy. It's actually kinda fukked up that they have to act a certain way or they are embarassing their race, tells you a lot about Mark's thought process there. :mjpls:

They are successful because there gimmick ended up just being... Them. Nerdy Athletic Video Game Playing Clowns who can go in the ring. That's the entire vibe.

That's what I'm saying...

If New Day is a "minstrel show", then how the fukk are they SUPPOSED to act?

And I'll be the first one to admit that I was'nt feeling them when they intially stepped on the scene but these motherfukkers have grown on me in a way I don't even think I can comprehend. I will be legit pissed off when they drop the belts because no disrepect to the Uso's or anyone else, ya'll are not entertaining me the way New Day is.

You think the Uso's can come out to open Raw and have Mark and Smark cities lit? You think any combo of the League of Nations can do this?

Minstrel show is waaaaaaaay overboard but they are getting to the point where their act is becoming a self parody. I don't know how long this will work since they are gonna be faces now. Their act was tailor made to build off their botched debut. They need to be tweeners if they aren't going to change up dramatically. A face New Day = Social Outcasts.

I know, right? Why is every black entertainer designated as a representative of the race and obligated to bust stereotypes? Can't you just have some goofy ass nikkas on TV without it being a racial thing?!

They act no different from Edge & Christian in their heyday, it's just that they're three young black guys instead of two young Canadians. Were Edge & Christian embarrassing the Canadian people by acting like Bill & Ted?

if they're having fun, getting tv time and making money then i don't care.

it would be different if they were uncomfortable with what they were being asked to do. they clearly love it though and it's pretty obvious most of the stuff they do in the ring comes from them and not any writer. :yeshrug:
