On recruiting it isnt but even with these struggle coaches, UT has kept good classes....it has better facilities, history, and a fan base that is nearly as big as uga but travels better

But are they getting players..? :francis: alrighty
Tennessee USED to be a great program literally along the same lines as Michigan but as we both know, consistent bad hires can take an elite program and make it an average one

this the same UT thats been losing to Vanderbilt and Kentucky every other year, they are a farce right now and you know it

When they stopped being able to recruit nationally and cherry pick Georgia the wheels fell off. They aren't ever going to get back to that level of recruiting again. The dynamics of college football are just that different.

id disagree with that notion

you go back the last 3-4 years their recruiting is right in the top 10

the thing now is to win and get the program in the limelight again

Tennessee will never be Tennessee until they end the 8-9 loss streak to Bama

It's top ten relative to the time period. They were top of the heap in the late 90's. Talent is too spread now and the playing field is too even. They will always recruit well but not to the point were they are head and shoulders over the competition. Then coaching comes into play and you see how that went.

well hell no school is gonna have that

even Bama with all the accolades they have gotten in the late 2000s isnt head and shoulders above anyone. Schools like Miami, ND, Michigan, FSU, and USC benefitted from athletes leaving their homestates to get on TV

but any school can get that attention. The mid-majors get attention these days

the difference is the money in the athletic department to recruit and finance the maintenance required to stay on top

i recently was inside Auburns athletic department and its night and day to the Tuberville days
