Philly is in a VERY dangerous position...

Nick Foles is obviously not the QB for the system they run...to injury prone...not athletic...not accurate on deep throws...easily rattled by any pressure in the pocket

Sanchez is obviously not the QB for the system they run...chokes in big moments...borderline wildly inaccurate on short and intermeediate throws...easily rattled by pressure in the pocket...

And yet Matt Barkley can't even get on the field over these guys so he clearly isn't the answer...

And yet the guy who perfectly fits their system coming out the draft this year will be gone by the time the eagles pick unless they move up...

Not a QB on the market right now that fits the system...not one coming up in free agency that fits the system...

And yet after next year you got to give somebody a long term contract to be your QB...

They get it right they could be good for awhile...

They get it wrong they are going to collapse in december like they did this year...

And Maclin going into free agency and he going to get a nice contract from somebody...

And Shady Mccoy is getting older by the second and who is your second running back because old ass Darren Sproles is not going to hold up for 16 games...

they are in purgatory, my guess is they go with Foles for 1 more year because its cheap and lack of better options. they aren't the kind of organization to do a RG3 type trade for Mariota

best chance they have is to have a great draft, and use all of that cap money they sat on. Justin Houston, Revis, they need to add some superstars and hope Foles is adequate

I suspect you are right...but Foles is so clearly not the long term guy...and for that type of offense you have to have either an extremely athletic QB to all put the defense out of position to make the throw easier, or a extremely accurate QB who can complete those 3 - 8 and 9 - 14 yard passes at around an 85% clip...

I don't think drafting great players elsewhere is going to matter much when the QB doesn't fit the system and is turning it over 1 - 4 times a game...

Unpopular opinion, but I still think Nick Foles is the guy. He is a big, tall guy, has an arm, and he had a great rapport with Maclin and Ertz before he got hurt. If he didn't get injured, Philly is in the playoffs right now. Give him another year and then restock because honestly there is no other option, and Nicky isn't a terrible option to have. He is slow and isn't a threat to escape but Philly has to shore up their offense line anyway. He can do everything Chip wants on offense besides run a sub 4.6 or something. Philly needs to worry about their defense and acquire some actual corners more than anything.

How bold on a scale of bold to historically bold would it be if Chip offered McCoy for the rights to take Mariota?

Not very bold at all because this draft is loaded with some good running backs and I can't imagine anyone thinking that Mariotta is NOT the perfect fit for this offense...

And McCoy is on the downside of his career...just to many games of 3 ypc for me...as a Cowboys fan I have gone from being deathly afraid of him to just not being worried about him at all...he runs east and west way to much now for my liking...even after he destroyed us on thanksgiving...I went into the next game thinking "no way in hell Shady runs like that on us again...he's not good enough anymore"

The problem is that nobody is going to trade say a top 5 pick for just McCoy...Chip is going to have to throw in some draft picks and THAT could be a problem depending on how many and what round...now you are mortgaging the future of your franchise on one player so yeah it had BETTER work if you do that...

Yeah that was a part of my hypothetical that I left out because I thought it was obvious. Id love to see the reaction of Eags fans if it was McCoy, a first and a 4th or somethin for him.

No way but he has earned himself a contract with someone for next season. And with teams like the Bills Texans Bucs etc. looking for a QB it's not a stretch to believe he could be a starter for someone next year.

You know what...I could go for that...but that means that by default Philly would HAVE to take the best running back available in the second round...if they don't take a running back then they might be up shyt creak in a speed boat...shady is declining but not so much so that you can replace him with any old random person or not replace him at all...

I question whether him staying injury free would have been a guarantee of a playoff bid considering he and Sanchez have the exact same stats this season.
And the other problem besides Foles being average as fukk is that the guy cannot stay healthy.

What you mean same stats? Expand on that breh. And I say that because one thing Foles did that Sanchez cannot do is stretch the field. Defenses let Sanchez complete short, intermediate stuff. They live with that, and in the end you don't keep them honest which hurts the run game etc. Foles beats those defenses with Maclin and Ertz on long vertical plays. Offense immediately looks explosive again.
