Is it ideal? Hell no, but then again we ain't exactly ideal individuals nor as a collective species. You eat the guppies, and along the way you'll probably get eaten by a bigger fish. That's just human nature and nature in general.
"If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin." "If you ain't ruthless, you'll be toothless." Those 2 expressions exist for a reason.
So y'all can live your lives on some "to be seen on the right side of history" nonsense. Have fun with that. I'll take my short time on this planet and do whatever I need to to secure enough resources to ensure a life for me and my people without having to worry about my next meal or the luxuries I enjoy in my free time. And I don't have to actively hurt anyone physically or mentally (most importantly, myself) to do so.
And not a damn person is gonna guilt trip me for pulling ahead.
