It's a sign that the men who marry these women respect their or acknowledge their culture. Similar to having a Mexican friend and learning how to speak Spanish and making their food, it's a sign of respect. Women keep the culture, men are suppose to protect it. We learn culture from our moms (hair rituals, food, clothing, worship etc).
