#notmychalla.
Tchalla isn't born yet. Its 1943.

Casual fans don't seem to care much about black panther lore. Its always been a mantel thats passed down through generations and earned in ritual combat.
This is his grandfather

The story of him running across Captain America during WW2 is a common black panther told several times in the comics. probably one of the most well known black panthers not involving T'challa,

No thanks to Marvel/Disney

What's funny is... Black Panther is a 70+ year-old Marvel IP
and T'Challa been the Black Panther for 98% of the stories :mjlol:

i.e. in the past 30 years you'll get 4 issues about his grandaddy... with the other 300+ issues worth of solo series, avenger appearances, what-if stories, summer events, etc featuring... guess who? (hint: it's not Shuri).

aka nobody gave a fukk about his daddy, grand daddy or great great grandmama wearing the "mantle" nor made stories. They were just teritary background characters whenever T'Challa needed to chastize or be chastized by his dead relatives. Anybody who actually follows the lore knows this.

The "mantle" is just some weird shyt the white folks at Disney been on ever since Chad died without disclosing his medical condition.

Black Panther only has five iconic stories/events that are often referenced in the comics.
1)The one where he faces Killmonger and gets thrown off the waterfall, (which they told in the first movie.)
2) The one where he solo's the fantastic four during his comic debut,
3)The time he married Storm.
4)The One where Namor floods wakanda, (told in the second movie)
5) and His Father/Grandfather Beating the breaks off an inexperienced Captain America. (which this isn't even the first time they did this story. The animated series also did this story back on MTV in 2010.)

Why yall continue to be surprised when they choose one of these most popular and most obvious black panther stories to adapt into movies or games is beyond me. Unless of course you are just casuals

And just to dumb it down simplify it further for those who aren't/weren't comic readers:

Shuri’s time as Black Panther was relatively brief; she took on the role in 2009, and essentially shared it with T’Challa through some never-fully-explained mechanics for the next five years in a way that allowed for him to call himself Black Panther and appear in multiple stories
, while she remained in Wakanda actually fulfilling the role of leader of the nation. It’s in that position that she met her end, with the character dying in 2014’s New Avengers

In other words, she had like 8 issues, shyt flopped, so within a year they brought T'Challa back to be used in all the Marvel stories with an occassional "meanwhile back in Wakanda..." for Shuri to waive to the camera. Then they killed her off ("noble sacrifice").

That...
was the extent of "the mantle" :dead:

Gatekeeping hard af. Like you don't want them to expand the black panther franchise.
Madam Web never had any significant run in the comics either. Yet they still made a movie about her. (terrible but still)
Miles gets cartoons and games made about him, Venom, kraven etc
adn Yet Spiderman still gets all the shine he needs. Doing a project about a side character is not taking away from the main event. If they get popular that will only add to their roster.
Point of fact, they are still making another black panther game that is directly about T'challa. There are two games in development right now.
Tchalla will return to the movies too. They see it as franchise, and yall mad they aren't thinking smaller.

Thats fair, i feel like his design should be been darker, not sure if they modeled him after the voice actor or what, but he looks like he could be afro Dominican. I think that's the result of studios thinking all black people look alike. His hair wasn't even curly. i'm hoping in the actual game they make some adjustment to make more west african looking.
