Coogler didn't start the Black Panther script until August 2016 and they shot in January 2017.

Ali has way more name recognition, thats very important to Feige and the MCU
ain't no script because they hadn't PLANNED for the sequels like they did for the others

Its b/c of the four year (or more) gap when it was such a monstrous movie. I think the long break is for a good reason tho. Coogler still has to write it and they want to pop off their minor characters before they let the big guns like BP outMarvel really fukking up the Black Panther thing. 1st they clearly and completely underestimated how successful and popular it was going to be. then they didn't have a plan in place to have another movie, let alone a trilogy like the other LEAD MCU hereos(Ironman, Thor, Captain America) got in a timely fashion. we really gotta wait FOUR fukkING YEARS???
and on top of that, we finally get a HUGE blockbuster BLACK male hero and the 1st thing some folks want to do in the 2nd movie is replace him with a woman.

meh. and I like Ali, he's a great actor. he's also like 45 years old. Rhodes is 29 and looks the part and is also a good actor. Blade gonna be big regardless.
