I just wonder if this was going to be comic book Blade or movie Blade... They are completely different characters

Comic blade low key has been heavily influenced by movie blade since 1998. they switched up his whole look to match wesley and rewrote his backstory to make him a dhampir like Wesley instead of his powers being the result of a bite from Mobius.
They are basically the same character now.
