Movie was cool. Definitely enjoyed it. But about half way through it my girl looked at me and asked me if Reed was autistic, and to be honest, I really think Pedro Pascal played him like he's on the spectrum.
Reed is Autistic

I don't see Downey JR playing DR. DOOM for 6 years. There's a twist coming. I'm pretty sure there will be a 2nd DR. DOOM.

Even though this was by far a better made movie than Fant4stic...its somehow just as boring but without the editing and character fukkups that made the 2015 version an interesting watch from a trainwreck perspective. This was competent to the point of being sterile. Like there's nothing wrong with the movie but after watching I just didn't feel much of anything. That's probably a super minority opinion.

brave post. not totally wrong.

this movie never got beyond the aesthetic, which if you watched trailers you saw in its entirety before the movie came out, basically. the space sequence was good, but people keep mentioning the peak space movies as a comparison and i think it's fukkin ridiculous. Galactus's lair looked like friggin Cybertron from like the 4th Transformers movie, and shyt, everything about him wasn't even much better than the Celestials in shytass Eternals.

and then there was like 5 minutes of a space chase that looked great, but like... outside of the Surfer surfing fire (legitimately sick - best visual in the movie tbh) shyt wasn't even fun. Sue giving birth. cool. Ben slingshotting. we've seen that. won't lie, don't even remember what Johnny did outside of get chased (Tim Story Silver Surfer/Torch chase was better, don't @ me) and Reed stretched his arm to pull some cranks. That was like 40% of his power usage in the movie. Guardians has better space stuff b.c it's actually fun,

this movie is fukkin bland. you create a great new world, and somehow it's still a boring movie b/c you decide people can't sit in a theater for 2 hours (despite sitting for 15 minutes of credits to see a cartoon clip) and chop out any and all fun from the movie.

i can see why someone would say that. apart from the action set pieces (which he probably didn't visually control) the director could have added some visual flourish. visual flourish as narrative punctuation. something which directors generally did better when they had fewer visual tools.

johnny igniting was done well and better than in previous FF movies. saying that, it was not "iron man suiting up level" visual punctuation, as used by some of marvels bettter technical directors. he needed to add more of that.

you build a hero's visual and narrative brand by emblazoning, embellishing and emphasizing/repeating those moments. thor waiting for his hammer. tony suiting up. cap getting his shield. in this film those sort of actions just happened. no fanfare. plus there is a well of wonderment available in technical detail that was not exploited. the flying car and other gadgets were treated as de rigueur, run of the mill rather than the technical highlights they could have been.

masters like michael mann can make a wet window at night magical. ridley scott can make a barely visible dark room entrance. more magical and entrancing than the a spectacle of a flying car in lesser hands.

(couldn't find the image but this illustrates similar)

I enjoyed this waaaaay more than that wack ass Paramount+ quality Superman movie. This is the best FF movie so far.

To be fair, I wasn't expecting an Endgame/Infinity War level movie, but I would have liked to have seen more action, but fukk it. It's worth watching in IMAX definitely, especially seeing Galactus in all his glory. Torch and Silver Surfer are both real ones in this.

Pablo sounded like he was on the verge of being crying everytime spoke. I hope that Mexican dude takes Reed's bytch.

Ebon tried his best to be the complete opposite of Richie from "The Bear"...why? Who the fukk knows because I honesty forgog Ben was in this movie. nikka had less of a screen presence than Herbie.

That British cac felt like he was put in the movie because he's the director's nephew. Comics Johnny would bully him.

I understand why critics were saying this was centeres around Sue, she was the only one acting in the movie.

This movie should've end on a true negative but they wanted to be safe. Every knows marvel baby jesus will come back.

this isn't being talked about enough, imo. They made Thing incredibly boring. maybe that's the comic origin, i don't know, but i couldn't even hear dude when he spoke. the scene with him and the kids where he lifts the car shows so much promise for the character and then he's just... kinda glum and there. i mean, i know he's a tragic character, but i'm just gonna keep harping on how dour almost every decision in his movie is

also, don't know if the word "Thing" was said in this movie. maybe during the quick shot of the cartoon early in the movie, but i don't think they even said it. don't tell me they're trying to do away with that name b/c it's offensive or some shyt. don't turn me into a republican please. i'm probably wrong though, was just probably yawning when they said it.
