Let's be honest, studios are practically forced to do this because of the whiny PC police. When an excellent film about a trans person (Girl) gets criticized for casting a teenage male actor to play a teenage male going through transition instead of an actual trans teenage actor (and subsequently has all of its award buzz evaporate), it was safe to say no Hollywood studio is going to risk this shyt anymore. I give it less than two years before the fake outcries start over British actors playing American characters.
