Marvin by a mile. Al's music sounds the same especially with that organ in nearly all his songs. Either that or he's making sad ass songs. That seen from dead presidents at the end with chris tuckers character pretty much sums it up. Both talented but Marvin was better.

Marvin

Love Al Green but this wasn't hard to choose

Marvin's voice was on a different level

Fu*k you @stomachlines. We shouldn't be having to make these kind of decisions. :pachaha:

Al all the way. More soulful voice and presence. And I just can’t get past the cross dressing and faggy shyt from Marvin that came out. Marvin still a legend and an icon for sure, but I can’t stomach that shyt.

I been listening to Marvin just about all day today and now after revisiting albums like In Our Lifetime, Midnight Lady and Here My Dear, I gotta say Marvin was better

Marvin switched up his sound and it worked every single time
A lot of Al Green's albums sound the same and while they sound great, after a while, you wonder how dope it would've been to hear Al over some other production.

Marvin was innovative in that he got funky with some of his later albums and he kept up with the times all the while remaining to not sound like anybody else at the time

I love Al Green but i gotta go back and say, Marvin > Al

And Marvin's acapellas alone are on another level

The way he layered his vocals were perfect

300 murders a year
marvin gaye.

great debate though

but marvin was a helluva writer and made more indepth content. you just not getting past classicalbums like whats going on, trouble man, i want you and hear my dear.

al green does have a once in a lifetime voice though, and classics as well. but marvin is a different type of legend.

Marvin considerably.

The range of emotions and material, content, concepts in Marvin's music is just incredible. When he sang, he sang from the depths of soul. You could hear the pain, anguish, joy, passion, etc. in his vocals.

Al just has "it" in his music. The sameness Willie Mitchell brought with the production didn't matter, because the vibe Al brought with his music was just infectious. You just couldn't get enough of it. Al's songs just put you in that right mood, that zone.
