Watched again last night, and although I didn't tally or keep a count of rounds I gave to who, I'm leaning towards a draw in hindsight. Definately not a Leonard win though. As others mentioned, one has to beat the champ, you can simply survive. Hagler messed up though giving up the first 4 rounds. That's not a good look especially as rounds became difficult to score a couple of times during the 3rd and 4th quarter of the fight.
On another note, I didn't like Leonard being on his bicycle the whole time. It's funny how some fighters get rewarded for that sh!t, (Chris Algeiri for instance), and other fighters are penalized for it, (Erislandy Lara).
Another thing I didn't like was Richard Steele's constant warnings to Leonard about holding the top of Hagler's head while hitting him. How many times do you have to keep warning him before penalizing him? He basically aided Leonard into duping the crowd into thinking he was controlling the fight when he was really running and surviving for much of it.
One last thing, the scoring kills me, and this was again like Canelo/Lara. How do two refs have equal scores, 115-113, one for Hagler, the other for Leonard, but another ref scores it 118/110? The Canelo/Lara fight was 115-113 a piece for both Lara and Canelo, and the 3rd jude scored it, 117-111. Like WTF? How does that happen?
