I know this looks awkward, but when I think about was doing from 1997-1999, the more I see how he pretty much laid the Blueprint for The Roc:

1) Just Blaze and Kanye West. If I'm not mistaken, Just made his debut on Harlem World's The Movement. This was also one of Kanye's first placements as well. We all know Just and Kanye would go on to be in house producers for The Roc.

2) The Harlem connect. Cam'ron was in a group with Mase, also from Harlem. Then when he dropped his solo, Mase was on the first single. Years later, Cam resurfaces on The Roc.

3) The Neptunes. Their first credits on a Hip Hop album landed on Mase's Harlem World debut. They also produced songs on Harlem World's The Movement. Around the time of The Dynasty, The Neptunes became one of Jay's go to producers.

4) The South. Mase was one of the first East Coast rappers to feature Southern artists on his albums when he had Eightball & MJG on Harlem World. 1999 going into 2000 saw Jay Z collab with UGK, Juvenile, Scarface, and later Outkast. Granted, Jay was featured on albums from JD, Juve, and Silkk, but he didn't feature Southern artists on his albums until 1999. Then there's T-Mix producing on Beanie's albums. There's Memphis Bleek dropping "Round Here", which featured Trick Daddy and T.I.

It could be argued that The Movement was a blueprint (no pun) for The Dynasty album right down to the West Coast flavored songs. Not saying that The Roc bit, because this could merely be coincidence, but a lot of the moves they made seemed like plays from Mason Betha's playbook.

he even directly bit mase lyrics in BP2 but yeah this shyt is hilarious :russ:

But BP2 was his LAD (his metaphorical death from losing to nas) It made sense to have biggie/ma$e/puffy elements to the album.

Obviously BP2 was not in the class of LAD...but that's what he was going with from the intro. But Jay couldn't just make tracks and spent too much time talking about he was the best mc instead of focusing on the project...but that's kinda the beauty of the album because you can see he was clearly agitated about his place in the hip hop world. Biggie was addressing beef in general with enemies in LAD so it hit much better.

its a good album BP3 too, i liked "The Bounce" the most off BP2.

jay lacks originality and authentic intrigue and since day one he was about pay to play, hence his position now.

Its amazing that Ma$e was poppin for 20 months and people still be talking about him 25 years later. (I know mase was in Children of Corn and with Lox and other shyt in mid 90's coming up)...It really shows how great he was in that time period. With the death of BIG on the East its like Mase came in and was I got this shyt and helped everyone. Tony Yayo just did an interview with Vlad and at the end was like I always wanted a Flex freestyle after I heard Mase. Mase has new label Rich Fish and the hottest in the game right now Favio is signed to it... For such a short time he was in the spot light its amazing almost three decades later he still thought of and talked about so much.

I heard this interview where Camron was saying I don't get it I come out in 1997 and im here consistently till 2018 and people support Mase when Mase came out in 1997 and left in 1999 he gets the love. Charisma is a hell of a drug

Good thread.

When I read the title I was like "is this dude is out of his mind?:comeon: There is no link between what Mase did and what the Roc did.:childplease:"

Then I started reading the post and was like :ehh::ohhh::whoo:
Well Dame Dash Managed Children of the Corn Ma$e, Camron, McGruff...Then Mase popped then Mase helped Cam pop then Dame goes on to create the Roc all around the Time Ma$e is on top and then Cam goes to Dame and Joins the Roc...Theres a pretty big connection...Harlem....
