Well Dame Dash Managed Children of the Corn Ma$e, Camron, McGruff...Then Mase popped then Mase helped Cam pop then Dame goes on to create the Roc all around the Time Ma$e is on top and then Cam goes to Dame and Joins the Roc...Theres a pretty big connection...Harlem....
How does Dame create Rocafella around the time Mase is on top. Rocafella started in 94 :what:

Above the fray.
Thread is a reach.

Since Full Force+extended acts, Salt'n'Pepa + extended acts, and the Juice Crew....there have been rap families with in house producers.

The Roc was just another one.

Vol. 1 was The Roc trying to do the Bad Boy thing and it failed.

No way one album from one rapper the blueprint for a label who followed so many trends.

And Mase was one of the biggest artists on Bad Boy. Harlem World and that Harlem World The Movement album were definitely directly/indirectly influential on The Roc sound.

Of course crews have always had in house producers, but look at it, The Neptunes, Kanye, and Just were all hugely prominent in that Harlem World The Movement album and they all ended up either as in house Roc producers or go to producers for Jay.

A good analogy for this is Big Boy Records being the blueprint for No Limit. That was an N.O. label that was comprised mainly of N.O. artists. No Limit had a roster of Bay Area artists and Bay Area sound. When P moved the label to New Orleans, he signed rappers who were once signed to Big Boy Records and No Limit went from a Bay Area sound to a New Orleans sound.

I don't mean create like when the LLC documents are first filed with the State lol...When did the Roc first get some momentum I'd say 96-98...no? It wasnt 94 it wasnt 95...Ma$e first came out on the Only you 112 track in 96 and he passed writing shyt to his man Cam and Ma$e really blew up all through 97-98 all im saying is that there is a connection between Ma$e and Dame one of the founders of the Roc. Also Jay was on Ma$e album and Ma$e was on Jays album until Bigs took him off.

You learn shyt from the people you in business with...Dame Cam and Ma$e were all in business together in early/mid 90's and Ma$e was the first out of the three to make it to superstar first...Then the other two followed...Sure they created and did things before 96,97,98 but they didnt pop until after Ma$e is really my point and im sure they learned from him and got opportunities from him at least Cam did for fact.

Some really good points. Also some reaches. The Cam part is more ‘cool, small world’ coincidence. The Roc was off and running before Cam

But I think you can close your argument with the Just blaze, Neptunes, and Kanye angle alone. That’s kinda crazy. Neptunes and just blaze first rap song a Mase song, and Kanye came under the wing of D Dot, who executive produced Mase debut album

Edit: D Dot also produced on ‘Where I’m from’ on Vol 1, which came out a week after Harlem World

As far as the south thing didnt jay do money ain’t a thing first? (Edit: no, that was 98). But jay had a southern artist on Vol 1 (edit: no, I’m thinking of 2 Short). Well I don’t think that was the first east-South collab. I remember Outkast went on a run with Raekwon and slick Rick (edit: nope, Skew it on the bar b was 98. Art of storytelling was 99).

:ohhh:

the tri-state
Good thread.

When I read the title I was like "is this dude is out of his mind?:comeon: There is no link between what Mase did and what the Roc did.:childplease:"

Then I started reading the post and was like :ehh::ohhh::whoo:

that was my exact reaction

i avoided this thread for the longest because premise sounded dumb and didnt realize it was justcking

great execution and definitely possible considering jay and bad boys interactions

Jay (and everyone else) wanted to be BIG (so Roc used the Bad Boy blueprint at times)

After BIG died, Mase became Bad Boy's franchise player, so it's only natural that he was now influential for the rest of the game, including The Roc and Jay.
