Question, as a guy who has never played any of the previous Mass Effect games do I need to in order to enjoy this or is like its own story?

Nope. Most you'd miss out on is little easter eggs that reference the main trilogy. I'd still recommend you play the trilogy though since it's a classic but if you don't have the means to play them all you're good.

It was dope as fukk. The actual objectives were pretty basic but the classes, powers, etc. in multiplayer was way better than the regular game. Some of the stuff in "Andromeda" they took from "ME3" multiplayer.
