Some of these are old. I'm gonna assume you seen "Matrix", "Terminator", "Star Wars", and shyt like that. Not all of these are sci-fi like "Mass Effect", some have aliens, or spaceships, but they're set on Earth. I think you'll like most of these though:

"Blade Runner"
"Sunshine"
"Event Horizon" (sci-fi/horror)
"District 9"
"Aliens"
"Children of Men"
"Minority Report"
"The Fifth Element"
"Dark City"
"Demolition Man"
"The Thing" (sci-fi/horror....if you ain't seen this shyt you lost. One of the GOAT movies)
"Night of the Creeps"
"They Live"
"Total Recall" (the OG one, not the remake)
"Invasion of the Body Snatchers" from 1978 (sci-fi/horror....another GOAT movie)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Let me know if you like them.

That Casper Van Dein Joint, Cant believe I forgot the name :snoop:. But you like Mass Effect, you'll like this. Old flick and kinda Cheesy, but it still holds up well. Plus you can see where the idea of the Rachni most likely oringinated from.

On a related note, and I may be in the minority about this...but I think the original over-arcing storyline of Mass Effect was just too big and too well thought out to wrap up in 3 games...even if they were insanely long

i deff think they could have kept the story going. Like the reapers could have been from another galaxy and they had to go to that other galaxy and fight the beings who made the reapers and find out why they wanted to kill all the space faring races in our galaxy.

instead they went the predictable route with the story.

The dying stars story line in "Mass Effect 2"....you know, Tali's recruitment mission, on that planet that would kill your shields....anyway, that was supposed to be the main plot of "ME3". But Bioware moved that writer to the "Star Wars" MMORPG for some dumb ass reason, so they scrapped that and came up with some bullshyt.

Although it isn't hardcore sci-fi, have to mention one of the best shows to come on recently in Orphan Black.
