This and Venezuela are the end road of what you advocate.
neither brazil nor venezuela are socialist countries. venezuela likes to pretend to be one, but it's not. and the problems of both countries have nothing to do with socialism, the problem is corruption and it existed way before left leaning governments were elected into office. to quote hugo chavez "yo no soy el problema, soy el resultado de un problema". the failure of both governments is, that they weren't able to get rid of the corruption, but these societies have been corrupt for hundreds of years and to truly change things you would have to break the power of the oligarchy, which would result in a civil war.
