Everything you posted is irrelevant. I never posted how big JD's album was. I said JD as a Southern artist reached out to Jay for a collabo in response to you saying nobody down here was checking for Jay.

Stop stanning so much.

Breh you made mention of his record sales to support your stance and I had a rebuttal towards it which made sense. You have the biggest cat in the game in 98 on your first single and push 3 video singles and only sell a million records? That aint nothing to brag about being on a major

If Jay was so big in 1998 and 97 why was it that JD, the only person reached out to dude and not any other known real rappers reach out to dude prior to 98? Did any West Coast artist reach to Jay, prior to 98?

P stayed collab'n with folks from all coast.

No stan, just not about to let folks re-write history and down play things. Jay was not bigger than no P in 1998

Hard Knock Life and Can I Get A made Jay surpass MP for sure. Before that it's hard to say, I'd go with P since Jay didn't have too many really big hits (singles or albums)

But yeah, no way C-Murder on his own was bigger than Jay. Silkk had a bigger fanbase than C in 98. No Limit as a whole was bigger than Jay/ROC in 98 obviously

Breh, you keep moving goal posts.

You are trying to re-write history. In no point in time was C-Murder bigger than Jay and Lil' Soldiers never went gold or platinum.

Master P wasn't bigger than X or Jay in '98. Yes, No Limit was a force, but to say they were doing it with no promo is misleading. Many of those albums had TV commercials and spreads in magazines. That's not even mentioning how every No Limit release promoted future releases. If you bought Da Last Don, you knew what releases were up next (weeks, months and even years in advance) and you heard many of those artists on the album. It was genius promo/marketing, but still marketing.
its not misleading at all

thats what really makes No Limits run special is cause they didnt have promo

the most consistent promo was a page in the Source but that wasnt shyt. They only did like 2 commercials but that was for bigger releases

most no limit projects had zero promo outside a page in the source telling you the release date

you never heard their shyt on the radio and their videos barely got any play on tv

Silkk was the only one to really get a industry push meaning he got features, videos got play, got tv interviews, etc

Sales in 99 were disappointing for such an established label at that point, C only went gold, Serv/Who U Wit/Fiend/Mac/Magic/Mercedes/Mo B/Lil Soldiers all missed gold, Da Crime Family only went gold (means less than 500k sold since it's a double CD)Snoop was the only big seller left, his Top Dogg and Last Meal albums were way better than DGITBS (which was better than its reputation tho)
Bossaline went platinum
Bossalinie is the second studio album by American rapper C-Murder, released by No Limit Records, Priority Records, and EMI. It entered the Billboard 200 at number two of the week ending March 14, 1999 after selling over 175,611 in its first week of sales.[2] It stayed on the chart for 11 weeks and was certified platinum , and as of February 2000 Bossalini has sold 1.1 million units in the United States.

Serv on shyt went plat
On February 16, 1999 Mr. Serv-On would release his second album Da Next Level it would be released to a bigger commercial success, making it to number 1 on the R&B charts selling 297,000 copies in its first week. Part of the reason he gained more mainstream attention is because of his featuring of the rapper Big Pun on his album. The guest verse from Pun on the first single from the album titled "From N.Y. To N.O." was ranked on a list of his best guest verses. On Dec 29, 1999 the album had sold 973,000 copies in the U.S. being certified platinum by the RIAA.

Da Crime Family went plat

This is the fifth album released by TRU on no limit records, The crime family was released June 1 1999 & debut at # 5 on billboard 200 selling 142,000 copies in its first week. By August 13 1999, Da crime family had sold over 500,000 copies, and on April 3 2000 it was certified Platinum by the RIAA for selling 1.5 million records

i just read through this whole thread and its so much wrong info posted in here

yes No Limit started to fall off musically in 99 but they were still selling.Only Fiends album was disappointing sales wise

what really did no limit in was losing BBTP and Mystikal in 99

after that they were done

Cash Money really didnt start making noise til summer 99

thats when Back that Azz Up and Bling Bling blew up and Guerilla Warfare dropped

2000 is when Cash Money really took over and No Limit was already done by then

They did have promo. Ghetto Commission even had a video in rotation on The Box.

I also remember them getting play kn the radio especially here. Greg Street stayed playing No Limit songs even ones that weren't official. I still have an edited version of "At Da Same Stime" on cassette.

No Limit didn't need the traditional promo. They had ads in every album booklet and those artists were featured on every album. I mean, every artist was featured on Ghetto D and had an ad in the booklet. Ghetto D was a double platinum album by 1998. That is free promo all day.

Those certifications are bogus.

Bossalinie only went gold

Serv doesn't have a plaque for either album

Da Crime Family only went Gold

CMR was doing more than making noise before Summer 1999. They were making noise in late 1998 with "Ha" and "Cash Money Is An Army". By 1999, CMR was in full effect.

I also wanted to address the "nobody was checking for Jay Z in The South" thing. I forgot to mention it before, but how are you a No Limit stan and make a bogus comment like that when Jay Z was one of the few East Coast artists featured on the I Got The Hook Up soundtrack.

some dopehead wrote them fake news brah. Believe me, I know 100% for sure the only platinum plaques in 1999 were Made Man and No Limit Top Dogg (2x plat). Bossalinie, OGCJM, Foolish OST and Da Crime Family went gold
