Only rumors and conjecture coming from my mouth, the reason they were so adament to get C was because they believed the actual shooter was part of his entourage. They couldn't get the guy because no one snitched, so they focused on C because he was doing hot boy shyt like shooting people over freestyle rap disses, and being a high profile guy who was pushing the street shyt while free. Add some institutional racism from the local pd of seeing a goon making millions and he had every card stacked against him.

When you have a brother who's sentenced to be in jail for the rest of his life, you have to eat some of this and think about how you would feel if you were in their position.
Monica and Kim brought him hope, which he had lost a while ago.
