We Are Penn State
Low key, that album had great singles and guest spots and is one of the best albums I've heard in the last five years. Ross was killing everything from "Deeper Than Rap" to "Teflon Don" and "GFID" and finally "Mastermind." Really, a nice four-album stretch.
But as I play back "Mastermind" right now, I look at Ross' discography and realize he's dropped three studio albums in the four years since ... and none of them made No. 1 on the charts. None of them even moved 200k units total.
He's had no solo hits in the years since, nor has he captured anything close to the buzz he had for so many years. Honestly, a lot of the same things could be said about Jeezy.
I want to toss this one of the armchair A&Rs of The Coli. What should Ross do to get his name back in the mainstream? Or did his shtick just fizzle out and this new second- or third-tier status is his reality now? He's proved he can make music accepted commercially and with the streets.
