Two guys who direct like a toddler plays with toys...just devoid of nuance or subtlety.

I gave it to Roth though because he showed a tiny bit of subtlety and change up in style with Knock Knock.
Plus Rob Zombie is just an embarrassingly awful director in every way.

Both have their major flaws but each of them made a couple of personal classics despite how flawed they are. I gotta go with Zombie cause Devils rejects and captain spaulding specifically is better than anything Eli has done

This horror match-up is like watching the Jags and Bills duke it out in the 2017 Playoffs :scust:

I like more of Rob Zombies movies, so i'll go with him. But I will say I watched 3 From Hell today, and that shyt was ass. It was the same story as Devils Rejects. It was like The Hangover 1 & 2-same story, different location

This is a very even match up :ehh: moreso than the Zombie/Raimi matchup that I only had a chance to lurk. I think these two parallel each other in many ways, namely they peaked very early into their careers and some of the best work of their careers were 2 minute spoof trailers in Grindhouse :ehh:
I recently made my thoughts known on Zombie and his style, I respect that he has his own vision and approach that’s distinctly his, but I find his movies to be largely a chore for many reasons and really, I can levy that at Roth too. I liked the campy, unconventional approaches both took with their first major features in House of 1000 Corpses and Cabin Fever, respectively, and their magnum opuses, The Devil’s Rejects and Hostel, which released the same year even. Outside of that, I can’t say I care for any of their films like that. But, I think I might side with Roth here. His films atleast largely look and feel different, there’s a marked difference in look, style, and feel between Cabin Fever, Hostel, and Green Inferno. Rob’s films all look and feel the same, House of 1000 Corpses and El Superbeasto are the only outliers because they’re so wildly over the top and departures from his usual fare. I think both guys are absolutely capable of better than they’ve created, you can tell they’re both big fans of the genre, but they’re both so hit or miss. I think Roth just hits the mark more often than Zombie.

I’ve seen an even amount of their work. Although I did enjoy RZ’s Halloween movies, I’ll go with Eli. His films were way more :picard: with the violence and story.

Both of these guys have movies I like and hate... the thing that pisses me off with Eli Roth is how he'll take complex subjects and present them but then reduce the entire film into gore/death shock scenes [he is good at showing ppl die in fukked up ways tho..]... what he does works well with movies like Hostel, Cabin Fever.. but when he tries to do anything above that level he fails.

It's sad that in order to win one of these head-to-heads that Rob Zombie needed a do over poll against a guy who is basically 2 ladder rungs about Uwe Boll.
And even then it was still close.
