He is smart but like many smart people vastly overrates his own intelligence and analysis about fields outside his area of expertise

That said I am curious what his influence will bring to the mavs

Reading that article on the gambling world, capitalism is kind of crazy stupid sometimes. Like, the amount of intensive human effort that the gambling world spends on something so utterly meaningless, when there are vast problems out there to solve. Just because of where the profit is.
He didnt view it as gambling. He used models and projections to build his money, and compared it more to stock analysis.

I'll miss him on the Simmons podcast. Alwayd liked him

You have a supreme arrogance that most people who hate capitalism (ie freedom) have.
who are you to tell people how to spend their time, their attention, and their money? LOL.
If people want to spend their time on sports and gambling how is that any of your business, if you want to spend it on "meaningful" things nothing is stopping you from doing so.
Profit exists because that is an area that people are willing to pay, so it shows that the gamblers are actually fulfilling a service that a segment of society actually wants filled. Thats typically what profit in capitalist system identifies, in a free market. All this is done with no compulsion, people providing a service for the benefit of other people and their own benefit. That is the heart of a civil and cooperative society, yet you look down on it for some reason. SMH

And yet this coward cornball spends an infinite "amount of intensive human effort" replying to every LeBron-related post - you know, something "so utterly meaningless" - when he could be out there solving all these "vast problems", and yet despite all that he isn't even getting any "profit".

:wow: I been following this geek for a minute. He made most of his money betting the 2001 lakers in the playoffs if I remember correctly. I enjoy when he’s on with bill Simmons even tho he sounds like a fakkit
Only reason I’m made those podcast won’t happen now

This is the guy who capes for his capitalist masters so hard that he claimed obesity is healthy, fast food is good for you, and Obamacare is killing people. :mjlol:

Your argument is so disingenuous - if you really think that people are above criticism and how they want to spend their time is their business, then what right do you have to criticize me? Can't I "write whatever I want to write"? If spending my downtime criticizing the excesses of capitalism is how I like to blow off steam in-between spending 12 hours/day making the world a better place, isn't that my prerogative? Who are you to criticize my free exercise of speech? :mjpls:

Claiming that profit should be the ultimate arbitrator of how humanity spends its time got us where we are today. It's literally destroying the natural world, it's the cause of most of our wars, it's created gigantic gaps between the rich and the poor, it has increased competitiveness between people to the point where communal trust is at an all-time low, it drives the exploitation of whoever is without power for the benefit of whoever has it, and measures who "should" have power merely by the capital they happen to control. Capitalism is literally the creation of White Supremacy to exploit the labor and resources of the rest of the world. And you're cool with that because the Heritage Foundation tells you to be?

That doesn't mean that I'm a communist. But if you believe that unfettered capitalism is good for the world, or that the excesses of capitalism are sustainable, then you have your damn head in the sand.

His emotional reactionaryism has expanded to new categories. :bryan:

He's caping for David_theman, who says that fast food and obesity are healthy, who wants to abolish the FDA, who writes that debt collectors are good people who shouldn't be demonized, who claimed that Trump doesn't bs any more than Obama, who started entire threads to claim that Obamacare kills people, and who even went 150 years back to write that Lincoln was killed because he was a "crooked politician" who was "one of the most hated presidents in history" and quoted actual neo-Confederate historians to back himself up.

Caping for THAT pro-capitalist pro-supremacy foolishness just because he lost a few internet arguments to me. :pachaha:

How did he make a ton of money on the 2001 Lakers? They were huge favorites every series/game you’d have to put a sh1tload of money down to win anything substantial

That's getting at exactly what I'm saying though. It's pure profit motive. He could be putting that sort of work ethic and computer projections to model where hurricanes will hit or how to best adjust African agriculture to new climate patterns. Instead, he's putting forth huge effort to predict the scores of meaningless individual basketball games solely because the profiteers can make money by getting a ton of people to bet on individual basketball games. It pays a lot better than all sorts of things that could actually benefit the human condition, because capitalism is more concerned with how rich people can profit than how humanity can improve.

I think he laid an enormous bet for them to win the title before the season even started. And I believe he did it in 2000 and 2001 both. But that was just his first huge move, it's not really related to all the stuff he's done since then with computer models and game projections.

I never said obesity is healthy. I did say calories are calories and the supposed dangers of fast food are largely made up. On top of that there is nothing I said that makes a moral argument abut what any person should do, just the fact that free market capitalism iterally is people providing the wants and needs for other for mitual bebefit, which produces profit for the provider of the wanted good or service. Its hard to paint that as barberic or cruel objectively. What is cruel is thinking you have the right or authority to tell someone else what they should be doing with their time. Cant weasel out of that fact
