With as much as he seems to record I doubt the number is even that high
That's what I was thinking. Wouldn't shock me if he was using semantics too in regards to songs he feels are actually finished versus those he still wants to tinker with.

Dre treating his beats like fermented tofu. No matter how much you keep hidden away, the shyt is going to smell like stale wombat ass.

Nobody trying to hear old ass Dre beats from the 2000s :picard:

This is probably most artists though. I mean, artists record like 30-100 songs per album. We get what they and the label heads think or feel like is the best 12-18. I'm sure all artists have some garbage in the vaults probably moreso than the gems, but I'm sure if they hired a good A&R to sift through those vaults, they could drop a good 2-3 or more quality albums. Look at the first Lost Tapes by Nas. That is viewed as one of his best albums even though its unreleased music with some new songs sprinkled in.

There's a real market for unreleased music. It is unmined treasure trove just sitting there. With streaming being what it is, they could make a killing off music that is just sitting in the vaults. You already have leakers selling some of these songs for thousands of dollars and sometimes its just snippets and incomplete songs. Imagine your favorite artist announcing a "Lost" album dropping iTunes.

He probably would've sold 1.5 mil first week at the height of the Detox buzz. Just don't understand the point of squandering that opportunity.
You get 3 billion from Apple and hundreds of m's before that deal and see how much you give a shyt about anything lol

He actually answers that question in the video and at the same time talks to those thinking he's flexing

Says he makes shyt for his friends/family, it's not for everybody. Some is to hold, some is to be sold. Makes sense to me, nikka ain't chasing first week or awards and doesn't need to. All that would be beneath me

Not really interested in anything from dre at this point aside from death row cuts for nostalgia purposes. His 80’s/90’s production was so sample heavy that I’ve come to look at it differently as an adult and that terrible mid-aughts Eminem influenced production ain’t nothing I want to hear ever. Just enjoy the mystique a ride off

It's probably more like 2-3% of the music he recorded actually came out. Think of all the leaked albums that never came out. Plus, we've heard stories for years that Dre is in the studio almost daily making multiple joints a night.
