but does doing it separately actually save any time?

Hell yeah it saves time. Next new game you purchase, try it. Install the game and disconnect from the net completely. That shyt will be finished in no more than 20 minutes. If you do it WITH the internet connected. Sheeeit, I've waited HOURS like 7 or 8 for just the game to install.

How to Speed up game installation on Xbox One?

This is the simplest method of bypassing the update and patch downloads for the games on a Xbox One. You have to make sure that your Xbox One is not connected to the internet.

Yes, you will have to disconnect it from the internet to speed up the installation process. All you have to do is press the Menu (Start) Button on your Xbox One controller and openSettings > Network and choose Go Offline. (Thanks for the tip! ClarityPage) You can also turn off your router or unplug the ethernet cable from your console, if Go Offline option doesn’t work for you.

Once the console is completely disconnected from the internet and Xbox Live, you can easily pop in your favorite game disk and start the installation. You will notice a huge difference in the installation speed. The game will take 10-15 minutes depending on its size and the condition of your console’s disk drive.

but like you said, you still have to d/l the updates when you do connect to the internet. the question is if installing it without the internet, and then later d/l'ing updates, saves time vs just doing it all at once

I'm digital, and I keep my PS4 in Rest Mode when I'm not playing it, so it downloads all updates when I'm not using it. Honestly I can't remember the last time I ran into an update screen outside of system firmware updates

I come from an age where you cop a game, come home, pop it in and play.

Not with xbox one. I cop a game. Pop it in. Oh, the system needs a software update. Ok, it takes me 10 mins to download the software. Can't play the game yet though...have to install it. So I install it and wait....and wait...and wait. 45 minutes in and I'm at 20% download for this $90 game.

Someone come pick this thing up.

:scust:
I totally disagree

I love these days where I don't have to buy a console and live wit a wack and boring dashboard for the console generation. Patches and updates are what makes the system great. Do u know how much been added three updates and patches.

my madden just took 5-10 minutes to upload.

Larry box issues I guess :mjlol:
Yea mine on Xbox took like 20 minutes, it's was ready to play in 10(offline modes)
