How is the 'self made man' a myth? This is all the product of decades of presenting the left as "communists", "p*ssies" and what not. The good old myth of the self-made man and bootstraps, which is a spit in the face of anyone who has basic understanding of how economies and societies (not "communities", societies) work.
Trump is the end product, as well as the out of control PC. But if you equate both, I'm guessing you lean towards the former.
How is the 'self made man' a myth?
So you're saying no one is self made?Quite often people used as examples of "self-made" man turn out to have benefited from from the social-economic status of their parents in some form. Or of being born in the right city, environment. Every society needs its myth, the "self-made man" is just one of them, it's a smart way of telling people their on their own and that if they don't make it, it's their fault, under the false idea that "everyone has equal opportunities", which anyone with basic understanding of economics knows is bs. So instead of getting mad at those who are supposed to provide equal opportunities (the gvt), people get mad at people who are struggling, the whole "bootstraps" and "if you're poor it's because you want it" approach.
So you're saying no one is self made?
There are people who came to this county with pennies in their pocket and are now filthy rich. My old boss is one of those people. Came here piss broke and could barely speak English now owns his own company and probably makes 2-3 million a year.I'm saying it's not that simple. The idea of "the self-made man" is that he didn't need any help, educated himself on his own, did everything on his own like they're some super-heroes...there are people like that, but again in developped countries you at least passively benefit from the infrastructures, knowing how to read, write, minimum level of education, of health, being in a country with legislations and rules, not being in a country at war. All the stuff we take for granted.
Added to that, I saw a study that most "entrepreneurs" benefit from financial help from their parents, and thus actually start with a financial safety net. Or their parents put them through school/college. Or they benefited from the socio-economic status of their parents and had examples, access to books, know-how, social circles, etc. Or were around people that did what they wanted to do and that could help as mentors, "coaches", or spotted their talent. In damn evrey story you will see that people always give credit to someone for "spotting them" or "helping them", or whatever.
No man is an island, circumstances and environment matter. Obviously this doesn't mean that they have no credit AT ALL, that's not what I'm saying at all, I'm just saying that they also benefit from things that maybe we take for granted.

And of course some people have advantages but that's the way it is. Yes if you were born to two loving, supporting middle class parents... you have a head start compared to someone who was born in poverty to a broken home. It doesn't mean they are any less deserving because they had it easier. You're SUPPOSED to provide for your children and pave the way for their success.
At least we live in a country where people at the bottom of the economic ladder have the opportunity to climb up. Nothing stopping anyone from learning a skill/trade and making decent money.
