2018 Mbappé is defo better and more accomplished than 1996 Henry (both 19).

That's Henry in 1998 (at 21) and you can really see similarities in their style and compare him to Mbappé of today but that's a Henry who's 2 years older. Also, in 1998, Henry wasn't a starter in the NT unlike Mbappé who currently is. Henry really became the man when Anelka left Arsenal and he replaced him while Mbappé was that dude at 18 in Monaco and behaving like a don already.

Henry at Monaco had Trezeguet as co-striker (Monaco had a front 2) unlike Mbappé who was the main dude so stats wise it is expected that he was not as good as King Kylian but Mbappé's last season was terrific if you take into account that he became the main striker in the second half of the season. So all in all, I have Mbappé in front at 19 and potentially, I have him better at the end of their careers but that would require for Kylian to be extremely consistent. That's far from done.

Yall agree Henry should've won the ballon d'or in 2004 over Shevchenko or in 2003 over Nedved or nah? :jbhmm:
Henry would have won the BO in 2006 had he won one of the final he was in. I wasn't following European footy much in the early 2000s so I can't tell about Nedved but Sheva was a true beast in Milan and it's universally okay'd that he deserved it. From what I read the Nedved BO was kinda disputed as nobody really stood out but Juve almost won it all and Nedved was their leader while Henry didn't win anything so :yeshrug:

2006 is still one of the weakest winners I've seen (Cannavaro), it's like they decided to just award it to a WC winner but I can understand a bit. Ronaldinho was floating with Barcelona but he just had a weak WC (by his standards) and Henry couldn't win either final he was in. 2004 is arguable, Arsenal had the whole invincible season and Sheva/Henry more or less had the same achievements (won their leagues and crashed out in the round of 8 in CL) and I believe they had similar statistics (but Serie A was usually considered as good if not better than the PL - this was pre-calciopoli).

At the moment, I hated on the Cannavaro pick, I think Buffon deserved it better. But he was actually very good with Real and Italy that year so it made sense really. Though the year after my man John Carew styled on him :banderas:

2004, I'd trust your judgement as I really started to really follow footy in 2006. I think Porto had a great season too (but no real star player per se) so one could say that Deco deserved it better than Sheva and Henry. And considering the catastrophe that was Euro 2004, retrospectively, that year was up for the grabs to anybody.

It was weird how Lyon used to shyt on Real year after year for a while :mjlol:

As for 2004, Deco could've been a good call and he ended up as runner-up. If Portugal didn't choke the title game vs Greece, he'd have probably won it.

They did my nicca Thierry dirty definitely in '04. How are you NOT gonna get the balon d'or when you are the talisman in a team thst went undefeated??? An you're doing god tier things in matches on the regular. He was way more of a complete player than shevchenko that year...and let's be reality. Going into the '04-'05 season...who would you have put on your team sheet first....shevvy or thierry? :usure:

[Roger] well aiite then  [/Mayweather]

As for '03, i'll keep it 100 and not comment on it cos i was 14-15 and i can't remember just how good nedved was that year

Nah. I was a soccer head from the mid-2000s to 2012. I stopped following club soccer after Drogba won the champions league in 2012. Mainly cause all my favorite players that I followed had either retired or were over the hill (i.e. Drogba, Henry, Eto, Ronaldinho, etc.).

I follow great players. And since 2012 there ain't been a great player in soccer worth following. Now with Mbappe's emergence I'll start watching club soccer regularly once again.
You call it soccer doe :scust: you already tripped up at the first hurdle :scust::scust:

Mbappe is better at 19, Henry wasn't yet who he was at that age. He still showed glimpses of what he could do but turning into a striker was what propelled him to what he became. Projecting talent is difficult because there are many variables that go into it including injuries and coaching. Brazilian Ronaldo won back to back Balon D'ors at 20/21 and he would have won it a 3rd time had Brazil won the cup because he had a good season at Inter and they should have won Serie A had it not been for that dubious Juve game that I am sure was rigged. Henry came to Arsenal at the right time and he was consistent over the seasons, he scored at least 20 goals in like 4 or 5 consecutive seasons and still holds the record for most assists in a season by any player.
