All legendary verses but yet not no ALBUMS of this in his prime
@FreshAIG said it best, Kurupt should've dropped his album in like 94'
He missed his mark cause by the time he got to dropping his solo shyt, he won't spitting as nice as he did from 92' to 96'.

Dogg Food>>> any album to come from the West Coast except Doggystyle

Eiht was one of my favorite MCs for a minute back around '94, '95, but I cant put him at #2.

His music may make him top 5, but lyrically he's not seeing the likes of Ras Kass, Boots, Xzibit, Casual, Tash, Planet Asia, Ren, Del, Saafir, W.C., Souls, etc.

Don't forget Dogg Food, he was savage on that album too. Basically after he left Deathrow he fell off, a testament to the type of competitive environment they had over there cuz that ain't no coincidence.

If we are talking HOF type argument where longevity counts, Ice Cube sure. If we are gonna say Eiht, than people like Spice 1 can also be considered. His first 4 albums were great. Eiht's only good solo albums were Strapped and Death Threatz. DJ Quik is the epitome of consistency, and has outlasted both of them in terms of putting out projects that are still dope. Too Short... E-40... I'm fine with Eiht top 5, but not top 3, and certainly not 2nd.

Oh yeah
Dogg Food was Kurupt's moment to really shine even more as an MC
Good point about Spice 1.
Spice was real nice in his prime and he's another MC who's got a tight catalog.
Quik got better w/ time
I ain't really feel Quik's music up until Safe + Sound
Before that, he sounded too much like Eazy to me
But Safe + Sound won me over and that's where he really found his "Groove" IMO
E-40 is 1 of the most consistent motherfukkers of all time
Eiht's solo albums all the way up to Affiliated all range from great to good to solid.
Today Eiht's voice ain't the same at all and that was 1 of his best attributes as a rapper.

A nikka ain't gotta be the most lyrical motherfukker to be top 5, top 3 or number 1.
Being lyrical is apart of what can or does make a rapper or MC dope but it's not the be all and end all
There's other factors too
Planet Asia is dope but I wouldn't say he's top 3.
Same w/ Saafir
Saafir was 1 of my favorite lyricists but I wouldn't say he's top 5 in terms of the overall package.

I agree. I already said I'd put Eiht top 5 musically from the West, but the thread title is he's the 2nd best rapper from the west. And again, Eiht was borderline my favorite MC period for a short time back in the 90s.

Unless I see birth certificates saying, Ras, Cube, Boots, Tash, Xzibit, etc were born in NY, that cant be true (and yeah, I know X is originally from Detroit, i'm just making a point).
