What he's saying is, the problem is that it's become the standard. The chicks feel like they have to do that to get on.
There were always explicit female lyrics in Hip Hop, but the issue is that today, most of them think that's the only way to get on. There's no diversity anymore. They all do the same sh*t and have the same approach to what they're doing. That's the issue. They're using the sexual sh*t as a gimmick, and it's just shock value to get noticed. In the 90's, Kim and Foxy didn't do that all day. They would be on records actually spitting street sh*t like any other MC. But every now and then, they'd switch it up. It wasn't a 24/7 thing with those two. So they're not responsible for this. They could actually rap. The labels are making these chicks do this sh*t today. That's the difference. It's a forced gimmick.
Gangsta Rap wasn't a standard. It was a style in the genre. But if you didn't do that, you could just do some other sh*t that was more of who you were. You had mad options back then as an MC. So as fans, we could f*ck with gangsta sh*t, and still listen to underground MC's, and party MC's and political black power MC's, etc. There wasn't a standard, other than you had to be dope. Today, these chicks all trying to be the most sexual rapper, is more like on some minstrel show sh*t. It's sad because the music isn't even good. They just look like they're following a script.
