This isn't even an opinion its a fact. 99% of early 80s west coast rap is unlistenable

The hate the west got wasn't "east coast bias" the first time most people heard shyt from the west it was deadass the wackest shyt they ever heard in they life

I wouldn't call it trash but hip-hop was heavily influenced by club culture, electro, etc. before it found it's own sound and style. Look at rappers before and after RUN DMC.

Studio 54 Culture was still Heavy in the 80s,a lot of the "Techno shyt" was also a part of the Freestyle/House Music Culture(ex:The Squabble Up Sample from Debbie Deb)

Exactly and I mentioned this before in relation to people clowning old school rappers dressing ridiculous. Like Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five looking like wrestlers. :mjlol:

Hip-hop initially had no direction so it took cues from the sh*t you mentioned. Including the over the top outfits. By the mid 80's it found it's own voice though.

Early 80s rap was trash all around let's keep it real.

When cmw and quik came into peak production it was clear there was levels between the originals and dudes like quik and cmw

Hip hop became more than just a kick and a snare
