Not as many people go out of their way to mention Jay or discredit his legacy and when they do, nobody really ever validates them like that.

When someone like Umar does it or even Lord Jamar before they kinda peaced things up took it upon themselves to speak for black people as a whole so of course the black people who disagree will be like hold up, especially in the case of Umar because he's not even

Jay gets far more disrespect on the internet, people go out their way to act like he’s just a great businessman and not one of the best lyricists in rap history, any overrated suggestions always have Jay near the top.

I think it’s jealousy but EMINEm deserves to get discredit Ed not discredited has by far the most rabid group of Stans who don’t even listen to other rappers like that, Umar reasoning is silly not there’s need balance if we leave to his stans and these sambo rappers he’d be undeniably labelled the GOAT, he’s already he biggest selling rapper of all time.

"On the internet" by who? Don't say Dame or even Kayne because nobody really validates their critiques of Jay.

Beyonce fans calling him a house husband? Jay is solid and is usually being attacked by nobodies.

I don't even know what half of that means. I'll agree that he's polarizing and that the media/stans create a need for balance if that's what you're saying. But I don't think Dr. Fubar is the correct counterbalance to that. At least Lord Jamar is someone who holds weight within the culture beyond I'm black and I say so.

I disagree obviously but if someone has Em in their top 5-10 am I gonna be mad? No. That's your business and as long as most of the list looks right then I can't be mad. If you have him as the GOAT then yea I'm gonna laugh. Not saying you, since you said he's not the GOAT. But the only people I see listing Em as the GOAT are white boys who only listen to Aftermath rappers, Snoop, and Ice Cube. It's always the dudes who go crazy over shyt like Infinite but somehow (wink wink) never heard the shyt Em was clearly inspired by on that: AZ, Nas, G Rap etc.

Give Em a lot of credit, he's a hip hop head who loves this shyt and always shows love to the people who inspired him. But his fans have spent decades pretending like nobody was doing internal rhymes or syllable rhymes until him.

I was referencing "Evil Twin." :russ: But, yeah, in all seriousness, Eminem's not the GOAT. I do believe the second half of his career overshadowed his prime years (1999-2003) because of how inconsistent he's been since getting clean.

I feel like Eminem's a gateway for younger people to get into hip hop. He's one of the few rappers on a mainstream level that can have a song like "Rap God" or "Godzilla" top the charts. Teenagers who barely listen to hip hop hear that, and because they're used to a lot of popular songs being the opposite, they think Eminem's the GOAT. The downside to that is they end up ignoring almost everybody in hip hop besides the guys you named, because they're associated with Eminem in some way. Of course, you like 2001 because the guy who produced it has your favorite rapper on multiple tracks and they've had a working relationship for decades now.

I feel like how @trillanova felt when he made that R&B thread years ago, but this time, it's directed at Eminem fans. They know Eminem loves Big Daddy Kane, so I have an exam to see if they pass it. Let's see which one of them can quote a BDK line the fastest. :birdman:

Em is in there though. Don’t care what no nikka says. He might not have the music like a good chunk of the list but if we talking rap and the technicality of it he’s better than a lot of those nikkaz you listed.

Even take battle rap I bet Em would hold his own better than a lot of nikkaz on that list if he was battling some of todays battlers.
Well then RAS KASS & Canibus are GOAT contenders if it's all about technical skills and not musical output.

The fact that we are even having a discussion about dude who hasn't dropped a good album in 20 years being GOAT anything lets you know how much White supremacy has invaded Hiphop.

Top 50 at best. 10-20 he won’t make my list. I’d put a lot of other artist who haven’t sold half or most what he sold on that list just off plain skill and not being cringey like the majority of his music.
Realistically he’s top 25-35

He messed up his discography

Skill-wise he is in the conversation with the greats, period. But to be the GOAT, you are competing against the likes of Nas, Jay, KRS, LL etc...and his albums, apart from MMLP and The Eminem Show, are not that great for him to be considered the best.

So the problem is not his skin color, but his actual accomplishments in HipHop - which is the ONLY criteria that really matters in this whole convo.

Maybe top 40, he’s got like 2 albums that I can go back to. 8 Mile soundtrack is good too but it’s not a real album,
ur right he could be top 30-45 and his first 4 albums all got some bangers. Mmlp and tes were really good but I haven’t listened to them as a whole in a long time and relapse is good too. What’s fukked is I might have an urge to bump relapse more then the other 2 as a whole but I haven’t listened to Eminem album in awhile. after relapse he started making pop white boy music with shytty beats just fitting every syllable he can in a bar without much meaning just all around shytty music all together that’s what made him go from a unstoppable top 20 rapper all time at one point to lower and lower on the list. His new music just isn’t respected and he could get alchemist in the studio but yet he chooses to rock over shytty beats. Guys garbage now but a legend at the same time

MMLP & Eminem Show are his best albums, everything else to me I can’t really listen in full except for the 8 Mile Soundtrack or that Re Up mixtape he made. His last album beats his other albums just off the intro. And even that one I haven’t been listening to in its entirety.
