I'd say it's t he other way around. shytty paying job is not worth getting worked up over. Or fukked up overshytty paying jobs are not worth showing restraint, especially retail. If someone puts hands on you, it's go time
I had to "save" this young cat at McDonalds from a beat down one day, he had some words with a customer, and as the guy walks away, employee had to make a little comment out the side of his mouth. The customer goes back on some "can i help you?" they go back and forth, i get out and tell the young cat go ahead inside close the window real quick. He almost shut the window on my finger 
Told the other guy it's not worth it too. Kid was white, other guy was black it would have been bad for him if things got out of hand.
