You're thinking of 2001 Allen Iverson. In 2000 he didn't lead the league in anything but bricks (literally) and wouldn't be ranked ahead of any of the players in the top 6 of MVP voting this year (Curry/Kawhi/Bron/Westbrook/Durant/Paul)
