According to a live correspondent, Matt Hardy defeated EC3 in a Last Man Standing Match at the TNA Impact Wrestling tapings tonight to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

Matt Hardy won the match when Tyrus turned on EC3 and sided with Hardy, who also turned heel.

This marks the first time EC3 has officially lost a TNA match.

The title change will air on a future episode of Impact Wrestling.

At the TNA Impact Wrestling television tapings on Friday evening in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the TNA World Heavyweight Championship changed hands in what ultimately turned out to be a pretty unexpected double turn.

Matt Hardy defeated Ethan Carter III to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion at the Impact Wrestling TV tapings for POP TV on Friday, turning heel and aligning himself with Tyrus, while EC3 turned babyface in the process.

The Hardy-EC3 match featuring the double turn angle and title change, which TNA has been hyping this week as a “Career vs. Title” match, is expected to air on the Tuesday, January 26th episode of Impact Wrestling on POP TV.
