Nah. X wasn't a screamer like Meek. I can't agree with what your saying. I feel nothing when I listen to Meek so his passion is lost on me. I feel it when I listen to X. To me there isn't anything special about Meek. X had the game on smash when he dropped and held the crown for a minute. Not trying to bash him but I don't get the appeal. What separates him from the other street/trap rappers?U mad son?
I didn't even like DWMTM the first listen thru, check my review on this project on this site. It grew on me a lot tho. I say this so you know I'm not on some dikkrider shyt.
But to say he's trash, can't write, has no artistic state of mind, it's all lies. Even in a freestyle he shows helps beautifully he can flow his words together. The passion, aggression.
He reminds me of DMX in a lot ways. Bars are GOOD, but his bread and butter is passion, and aggression. That's not to say he's as great as X, it's to say that who I see in him a lot. The raw imagery and the fact that you CAN FEEL IT when he raps.

The lyrical ability, and flow. The charisma. And the fact that a lot of street nikkas are not high level MC's from a technical standpoint. Which he is. Jeezy is in my (personal fav) top 5. He and Meek rap about a lot of the same things. Struggles. Drugs. Guns. Streets. Difference is Meek raps at a high level from a technical standpoint. Tempo control. Breath control. Couplets. I see rap different that a lot of people though. I look for everything. JEEZY can't do some of the things Meek does, the same way Meek don't got that grime in his rap Voice the way JEEZY does. In my opinion.
My favorite street rappers (Cam, JEEZY, Nipsey) are all great rappers, just are not LIKE AMAZING AMAZING from a technical standpoint. But are amazing as far as swag, confidence, grime, story telling, imagery, and conviction.
Meek is a tier above those guys when it comes to purely rapping.
There's a healthy population of people that don't understand or don't look at rap In a way where they can break things down. Who just hear, but don't listen and don't see the angles. Which are the people who say "he screams and doesn't rap about anything but Rollie's). It's the equivalent of a casual boxing fan giving their opinion on a boxer. Or dumbing down Tyson to a one punch KO artist, Floyd Mayweather to a "runner", or B-Hop to a hugger. There's a science there.
I gotcha. Then why isn't Gibbs up there? Hes got all those attributes IMO.

I fukk with Gibbs, probably not as much as I should though. I think I don't listen to him much for the same reason I don't listen to Kevin Gates as much as I should, even though I fukk with em. There's only so much time and I get certain types of music from certain people already.
Also, it's a regional thing sometimes. Philly nikkaz just know how to rap.
Same way Detroit nikkas are just amazing technical rappers.
nikkas from the South, can be amazing from a technical standpoint, (Andre 3k) but their culture doesn't demand it, as much as it demands spitting that grime and painting that picture on crazy production that still gets the message across while getting a party started.

You're bugging. Let Nas Down, Crooked Smile, Forbidden Fruit, NY Times, Is She Gon Pop, Sparks Will Fly are all dope. Born Sinner is his best project to date, imo.
