Um... You should've holla'd for the lawyer BEFORE signing the contract

:gucci:

Smh. Unless you're Drake or NaS why are you signing a 5 album deal if that's true

By the time you're deal is up the game done changed and nobody checking for you anymore
Cause your sound is stale

Just go Indy and release your own music yourself you don't need no damn major deal in this era

Get a great manager and tour and keep the majority of what you cook

No he’s not.

You do that and there may never be another deal on the table

be realistic.
Realistically he'll explain how you're being raped in this deal if you sign it and you can make the decision to go indy and keep a larger portion of a smaller pie until your profile is greater to command a better deal

If you can't get one then you're not that good anyway and were better off owning your music and doing your own thing

If you sign it then that's on you

You don't need a major to distribute digital music
Go on YouTube, and all these other platforms and put it out yourself.. go hustle out the trunk (so to speak)

The only thing they'll be good for is advertising/marketing domestic & international

What good is it to sign a deal when they take everything including your business name

Rappers are not broke

making a lot and spending a lot does not mean you’re broke

If that's the case, no one with any income is broke. If you cannot live off your earnings, you are broke. if you have to worry about when your next check is coming, you are broke. If Artist X got 200K advance, and don't see another check for 3 years, you really made $66,666. per year...and that would be how you would have to budget. Now, you spent the bulk when you first got it because it was a lump sum. Now what are you gonna do? That's broke. The majority of artists, especially the small scale artists were struggling through COVID, no tours, none of that extra income.

There is no money in the music industry as an artist. The money is in the behind the scenes tasks. It only makes you famous.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. That is the industry standard and all they offer. You not getting anything less than that.

Brent Faiyaz has been trying to get a 1 or 2 album deal with a major and Labels just laugh him out the building.

These rappers are far broke

Why do broke nikkas on this site always say that

meek can get 30k to party and perform one song at any club in the country right now.

He can get probably get 50k to 100k for a feature verse

he can get on stage and make over 100k

You dumb if you think I’m broke and these rappers have a lifestyle that has to be maintained. That requires income to be sustained! Even in a pandemic when the show money dries up. Based on your deal, you may still owe percentages to the label.

Since you’re so smart, ask yourself why they take advances that need to be recouped :jbhmm: They’re selling you an image.

Voluntarily choosing to be in debt for the rest of your recording career with the likelihood of never recouping, losing your ability to make income through your music versus taking the risk on yourself with the high possibility of it not working out but walking away not owing a conglomerate millions of dollars on a loan with 20% interest rate...easy choice to me if you passionate about it.

Like I said earlier cats would rather be famous and on TV and around celebs than financially stable. They can't wait to dive head first into debt/red

Meek isn’t broke either …. He’s just trying to get full control of his music.
