As Meek Mill fans are wondering when the Philly rapper will emerge from post-house arrest funk and drop DC4, Jahlil Beats delivers an update. Jahlil took to Periscope recently (July 22) to give fans a teaser of some of his new beats, and more importantly, provide some insider insight on when Meek Mill’s anticipatedDC4is going to drop.
“Imma tell you why Meek ain’t drop ‘DC4′ yet,” said the Pennsylvania beatmaker. “He not rushing, man. We got the 4 for 4’s out. That should hold people over, man.”
Jahlil, who crafted the beat for Meek’s hit single “I’m A Boss” back in 2011, got more specific on when fans will get what they’ve been waiting for later in the live broadcast.
“Yo, that DC4 is coming in the fall, that shyt is ridiculous,” Jahlil said. Not only did he give a timeframe for when the project would drop, Jahlil also gave a ringing endorsement for Meek’s new work.
“Me and K was just at Meek’s house, heard the whole joint,” Jahlil said, turning to his man in the background. “He talking some real shyt on that.”
So, thanks to Jahlil we know two things. Meek’sDC4is completely done and it’s going to drop with the change of the season.
Although he’s been mum about the music, Meek himself has been very vocal on social media lately about the police brutality going on in America. Earlier this month, the Philly battle rapper vowed to never rap about violence again after his DC4 project drops in response to the deaths of Black men Alton Sterling and Philando Castille at the hands of police.
“Don’t question my raps because it’s a life we lived and suffered from, I have a right to express my myself,” wrote Meek on Instagram. “BY THE WAY ….AFTER DC4 I won’t continue to rap about extreme violence!!! But I will remain to let my people know in these terrible environments to adapt and survive at any cost because “US BLACK PEOPLE ARE STILL AT WAR WITH OURSELVES AND THE SYSTEM IN REAL LIFE!”
