I was in the gym about an hour ago, had that playing, and it worked really well. It's a really good album. Kendrick doesn't really need the Billboard recognition, the man's already getting praised to the moon and back for TPAB. Meek needed this more than anyone else on that list, and he would've been fine without the win.

why? it was damn near the only real rap album on there

drake singing half his album as usual with other nikkas pens
drake and future maybe but that was a mixtape and not as good as meeks
compton was a damn compilation soundtrack full of nikkas
kendrick maybe but was he rapping or jazz skatting
meek was RAPPING... song in, song out... it was a fukking rap album

Breh... :dwillhuh: :mjlol:

Soooo, suddenly, "Energy" and "Jumpman" weren't on the radio for real.

Thread-starter made it a Drake thread in the OP...which is odd if Drake really won Rap Artist of the year at the same awards show, but it doesn't seem like Drake fans made this a Drake discussion. I'm honestly surprised there's not more of a Kendrick or Cole discussion in here as well.
you laughing but no.... apparently not

billboard are NOT voted on.... both drake albums outsold meeks.... so the only other factors that put him over the top are either downloads or airplay

drake won rapper cause his TOTAL (2 albums, plus features) probably sold more than any other rapper's output

but single albums against each other, meek did more given the criteria... it's not really a debate, billboards are purely math

thread is another reminder a majority of the people who took sides on the "beef" is just as corny as each other.
it's still clearly affecting grown men nearly a year later so i'll let you fanooks carry on.

anyway, i'm glad for him....i don't care about rewards and the album outside of a few songs had the usual a few weeks at most replay value...in other words a typical Meek release so it wasn't worth winning but it's actually good to see an album from a street rapper that had rapping on it from front to back win the award over everything whether it was his "rival" he beat or the critical darling in TPAB.

let's be honest though, DS2 should have been on that list and should have won.
