You yuppy nikkas who think being a lyrically superior makes you better just don't get it :mjlol:

Meek is the more complete artist who makes better music and appeals to more people.

There are so many better artists from a lyrical standpoint than BIG, Jay, Nas, Face but those 4 are complete artists..

Wale is a one dimensional internet sensation.. Love his music but he's not seeing Meek.

Wale stock falling faster than CP3 trying to stay in front of Steph Curry

So he's not really selling,he's just streaming.
According to this link
http://www.spotifyartists.com/strea...al-uk-charts-what-does-this-mean-for-artists/

100 streams = 1 sale and Spotify pays nearly 0.01 bucks per stream so that makes sense.
100 streams, nearly 1 dollar or more like 0.84 dollars maximum. I.e. it's relevant cause the labels make the same amount of money from the equivalent album units as from the actual units moved.

It seems like the billboards are adapting to the market more than anything.
Judging by these responses, I'm really starting to think some of you are paid posters. :francis:

Nah it doesn't make sense at all actually. Streaming an album or song will never mean the same as buying. Songs go for what, seventy nine cents to ninety nine cents in the marketplace? How much does a label pay per song at that standard value? Surely it's more than 0.01 cents. So even from that perspective it's not equivalent to a sale.

Anyone can get curious and stream a song/album that doesn't mean that they will ever listen to it again or that they mess with the artist and it certainly doesn't mean that they bought it. I'm not hatin' either. All I'm saying is streaming numbers aside, the amount of albums that people actually went out and bought the entire album isn't anywhere near these projection numbers. The entire album, not x amount of singles sold count as an album either. I say that because they count ten singles sold as an album. An artist could have a hot song but by using this model it could appear that his entire album is hot. If you won't acknowledge that then you just aren't being honest with yourselves.

I'm acknowledging that one equivalent unit = 1 unit sold in terms of income. What are you referring to with "what labels pay?". Back in the days people often bought albums cause they enjoyed 3-4 songs, because they were forced to buy it. Even though they didn't play the other songs.

And even if you like a song, you would have to play it once a day for half a decade for it to count as you buying the album. And it should be included in the album and not as a single, cause spotify has singles and albums.

You mentioned what labels pay per stream and I compared that to what they actually pay per sale showing that they equivalent. Don't tell me .01 is the same as the artist cut for a song that's sold for roughly a dollar.

1 equivalent unit = 100 streams = $0.84
0.01 equivalent unit =1 stream = $0.0084

While Tidal pays $1.2 for 100 streams.

A single on attains is $.99-$1.3? so it's approximately the same.
