See, that shyt right there upset me because the parts of the game as Sonic were dope but then that night time shyt..nah. And Generations is dope too but its gimmick and while it appeals to my nostalgia it's still built around a gimmick as opposed to just being focused on gameplay. I can't speak on Lost World or Colors so I won't front like I can. I just want a straight Sonic game where I can shoot through, not have to worry about switching between this character and that character, old sonic and new sonic, new sonic or scary ugly beast sonic, collect my chaos emeralds and give Robotnik that work

He looks like he just came out from doing a bid, see how his fist's all covered in duct tape n shyt?

from all those years of running at incredible speeds
They got Knuckles looking like The Great KhaliTrailer for the TV show -

I'm sold. Looks like it'll be a fun cartoon
This is a popular argument the developers make. The thing is the OG Sonic games were very short too, and no one had a problem with that. People continue to play and replay these games today. Devs gotta get out of the mindset that games have to be 20 hours to be good. If the game is great, length won't matter. People will replay games over and over if it's fun. The new Ratchet and Clank game can be completed in like 4 hours and it stays in my gaming rotation.I feel you, but there is an understandable reason they tend to put in gimmicks.
Due to the nature of Sonic, if a game was just Sonic stages then it would end up being extremely short. They could spend weeks and weeks designing a stage for Sonic, but players will just fly through most of them in five minutes. So even if they put in a lot of levels, a game with nothing but pure Sonic stages would end up being short (because you run through them so fast) and people would complain about that. So they end up trying to vary the gameplay so that people can't run through the game so quick. I don't advocate that, but I do understand that it would be hard to make a reasonably long Sonic game otherwise.![]()
