I came in to say this. One thing I’d like is for Black people to start extending more grace to younger Black people. And not those who are hurting others like gang hangers and drug dealers, etc. But those who have trauma and make mistakes that are self destructive. The world is too harsh on us all already. I’m proud of Meg that she was able to grow and come out of it the confident woman she is today.

Yeah, misogynoir and all that, but a black woman from the American South being able to cook traditional soul food is one of the most believable things in the world. The cognitive dissonance likely stems from them not being able to buy someone who looks like her and raps about what she raps about being able to cook; much like folks not believing that she's a real weeb/otaku.
