It's what they sell. They sell as equally stupid shyt to us men too and we support that.
Numbers, analytics and plenty of data show whoever runs these shows that this is what they should be showing for maximum revenue.
Ya'll got to understand: the point is to make money, period. It's their job to find out what people want and put it front and center for them to consume.
All those people up the chain from booking, to management, to executives are all looking at the financial statements and trying to generate as much money as possible.
Whether it uplifts people or does damage to communities is not their focus. The former is seen as a "nice to have" but not at the expense of making plenty of money.
Remember, people's asses are on the line behind the camera to pull in money. They need to put focus and highlight who people gravitate towards.
If people gravitated towards nothing but positivity and that brought in a lot of money then best believe they'd push that instead. It's about what keeps their job. We'd be up to our heads with nothing but positivity in music and entertainment if it were that profitable.
They even go out of their way try to play up to that part of Megan's story: finishing college while she's one of the world's biggest household names, getting the cosign from "pure" MC's like Q-Tip, etc. and go out of their way to put positivity out there but people don't want to hear it. Instead they see that every time she shakes or bounces something everybody loses their shyt and people make a lot of money.
Unfortunately, they found out that the average person loves clout and that's not surprising. Can't really blame these two, nor Future, Drake, etc. because what they show is a reflection of what the mass majority/we the people want to see.
Right now, toxicity sells until people can prove it doesn't.
It's a real simple game.
